Took this a while ago on a trip into the Muir Woods. I’ve been second guessing the purchase of my Olympus Stylus 710 for a while now, especially now that I’ve got a Canon Digital Rebel. Oh, yeah, didn’t mention that, did I? Right before Christmas I got a Canon Rebel for $400 with a 18-55mm lens from Rick’s downtown. Even though it’s used, it is better than the heafty pricetag that a new one carries - and although I’m a computer geek, well… I don’t see the reasoning behind buying a $1k-$5k digital camera or something - this old Canon Digital Rebel suits me fine.
Anyways, I digress. I’m walking in the Muir Woods with Deanna, turn around and notice that the light is just blazing and streaming through the trees and this gorgeous mist is lighting up everything. I couldn’t pass the opportunity up and aim my Olympus that direction, looking *forward* to being frustrated again at the lack of ability of this camera - and *shocked* I get what I want! A decent true-to-life exposure with a point and shoot!
Nonetheless, yanked out my Argus C4 (b&W film) and my Digital Rebel for some extra pictures of the scene and got some equaitable results. After walking in the Muir Woods, I have no regrets of not going to the true “Redwoods” far up North in California. Not only saved me 600 miles of driving but also two days on my trip. More photos coming soon from the entire trip - not to mention a breakdown of it.
