September 4-5 - Fall Captaincy

September 4-5, 2010
Fall Captaincy
Barony of Winter's Gate (Fairbanks, AK)
Come join us in the Far North as we once again choose a mighty Captain for Winter's Gate's brave militia! Find out who will succeed our handsome and dashing Heart of Winter's Gate! Find out if the ladies will swoon with joy again!
After the tourney will be a flower tourney for both heavy and rapier with a potluck dinner in the evening.
The Baron's whim is for oddball weapons (not sword and shield), and the Baroness' is for dishes made using harvest fruits. The autocrat's whim is for decorated sword sheaths for swords of any type (and yes, this does include the baby's toy foam sword). A&S will be embroidered leaf designs. The Fool's Whim Contest for "Use of Imaginary Roadkill in a Dish That Better Have a Good Story With It" is still running, and she's providing a lovely prize!
About that dinner ... This one is Indian-themed, and experimentation is encouraged! Magda and Ellisif both have books and oddball spices that will be available for nabbing, consultation, and copying. See either one at the business meeting 8/25 or at fighter practice. Some websites to try for ideas are http://www.manjulaskitchen.com/recipes/
(vegetarian, with videos and lots of tasty pictures!), http://vahrehvah.com (scroll about halfway down to get to the main listing.), and http://www.videojug.com/tag/indian-recipes
As usual, the barony will be providing a meat dish and Ellisif promises homemade chapatis.
Please bring a dish that will serve 8-10. With the usual card listing ingredients, please.
